Wineries

Sonoma, the birthplace of California winemaking!

Hungarian nobleman Agoston Haraszthy purchased Salvador Vallejo’s wine vineyards in 1855, and the rest is history!  Bringing 100,000 cuttings of 350 prized grape varieties from France, Germany, Italy and Spain, he planted vineyards throughout the area, creating a commercial wine industry that was able to compete with the Europeans.  A replica of his Villa and original winery are located in eastern Sonoma.

18 Appellations for your palate to experience

With over 62,000 acres of vineyards, and 1800 growers, Sonoma County is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world.  In particular, the area is known for its Chardonnay’s and Pinot Noir’s, which comprise 50% of all planted acreage! However, there’s plenty of diversity for everyone, as there are 66 different varieties grown in the Valley, satisfying the most discriminating of wine lover’s tastes.

We take you to the special places!

Grapetime Adventures wants you to experience the little-known gems of our Valley.  This is why we visit small production, boutique, wineries that typically produce 2500 cases per year or less.  Often, you’ll be able meet and speak with the winemaker himself, making the on-site winery visit something more than just a tasting!  Whether you like Rhone wines, or Italian varietals, we’ll cater your tour to your tastes.

VJB Cellars

As the family and VJB Vineyards and Cellars reflects on their first decade in the winery business and time settling into their new home, it’s the combination of being firmly rooted in tradition coupled with an ability to dream beyond the present day that’s led them from running a popular restaurant to owning a small tasting room to their current property that blends the best of both worlds into a place where guests can enjoy wine, food and true Italian hospitality embraced in the company of family and friends.

Mayo Family

Winery

Mayo Family Winery produces small lots of single-vineyard wines under the premise that the world's most interesting and highest quality wines must come from a single-vineyard source that can be expressed in the wines' aroma, taste and texture.

Mayo Family wines are only sold online or in our tasting room attached to the winery in the town of Glen Ellen and our two other tasting rooms in Sonoma Valley; they are not distributed across the country.
